Pair of antique Chinese Horseshoe Chairs made of Elm and original rattan woven seats with original support structure to the underside. They each have 3 back splat panels which are indicative of the 18th Century Kangxi Period. With a slight difference in size, the male chair has a back panel wood carving of a ring connecting two arabesque vine patterns suggesting double happiness in marriage (called a Chou pattern). The female chair has a wood carving of a stylized Lotus design. Both chairs feature stretchers on all four legs and a front scalloped apron. Each chair is composed of the classic 3 running horse tenon joints.
