Antique Chinese figure of Quan Yin. Revered as the goddess of mercy and compassion she stands holding a strand of prayer beads in her hands. Her sweeping robes are decorated with scrolling details and her hair is arranged on top of her head. Also considered the goddess of beauty, her name in Sanskrit is Padma-pani (Born of the Lotus). In Japan, she is called Kannon.
This figure is carved of wood and lacquered a deep red.
