This is an exquisite antique Japanese low Tansu, custom made for a wealthy previous Japanese owner. The Tansu is made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods and features all original hand-forged iron hardware, including Gunbai style handles. The Tansu has been finished with Urushi lacquer, which gives it a beautiful and unique shine. The bespoke custom-made Nihon Matsu chest is a rare find and adds to the uniqueness of this piece.
