Description
A rare monumental pair of Japanese handcarved hardwood (keyaki) temple transoms / (temple architectural elements dating from the 1800’s). Elaborately carved with charming motifs of squirrels eating from grape vines. The carvings are deeply recessed with raised outside edges of a scrolling form. Realistic grape vines and leaves continue along the underside of each transom. Very heavy. (pictured with a tansu for scale. not included)
Each is carved from a single piece of solid wood. Ready to be installed and enjoyed!
