Large Antique Japanese Carved Keyaki Lotus Hasu tray dating from the Meiji period. Made of solid single piece Keyaki hardwood. Well carved with great detailing. Two of the small flowering lotus pods are individually carved. Warm red dark tones with patina consistent with age.
The Hasu, or lotus, is a symbol of purity and enlightenment in Japan. It grows in muddy water but remains unstained, representing the ability to rise above adversity and achieve spiritual enlightenment.

Age: Meiji Period (1868 – 1912)

Dimensions: 32 1/2″ long x 17 1/3″ wide x 1 1/3″ thick
