Antique Japanese Edo samurai jingasa (war hat). Original horehair status in a more striking appearance, signifying rank or affiliation. A lightweight yet protective helmet worn by ashigaru, these were worn for head covering when a full samurai helmet was not required. Gold crest remains showing Meada family.

Age: Edo period 1603 1868)

Dimensions:11″ x 13″ x 6 3/4″
