Description
Antique Japanese Bizen ware figure of a recumbent bull. Laying on his belly with legs tucked underneath him. The bull has a relaxed slight smile. Bizen ware (Bizen yaki) first appeared during the Kamakura Period (14th century). The Bizen kiln is one of 6 major ancient kiln sites, producing ceramics for over 1000 years.
Age: Meiji Period (1868-1912)
