Description

Chinese framed rank badge (civil official 9th rank), decorated with a paradise flycatcher, applied all over with gilt wrapped thread in scrolling motifs. The bird stands on a rock with lingzhi mushrooms, floral scrolls, leaping carp, the rising sun, a flying bat, and bordered by auspicious characters and lucky bats. Meant to be worn on the back of a man’s robe.
