Nabeshima ware is a type of Japanese pottery, specifically an unusually high-quality porcelain Arita ware. The Nabeshima used them themselves and gave them to other feudal lords as prestige gifts. A small Japanese porcelain plate glazed with an image of an iris. The edges have brush strokes of garnet red with gold paint. The bowl’s side have a triple repeat pattern of a flower with leaves. The footed edge has a comb design. There is a fine crack near the rim.
