An antique Japanese Ko Tansu (document chest) made entirely of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware including the unusual side carrying handles which when swiveled up, allowed a wooden pole through it allowing two persons to transport it. Straight dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nail construction.

Age: Meiji period (1880-1890)

Dimensions: 21″ Wide by 16 1/4″ High by 14 1/4″ Deep

An antique Japanese Ko Tansu (document chest) made entirely of Kiri (Paulownia) wood.
