Antique Japanese Todana Tansu made from Hinoki (Cypress) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. Originating in the Kansai region of Japan it features sliding doors covering a shelved storage area with 6 drawers. Featuring mortise and through tenon joinery as well as hardened wooden nail construction, it was used as book storage and a multi function tansu in a Japanese home.

Present day uses include using it as a small console chest or bureau.

Age: Meiji period (1868-1912)

Dimensions: 38 3/8″ High x 36 1/4″ Wide x 18 3/8″ Deep
