Japanese large modern art ceramic platter. Round in form with wide, flared rim. Unusually beautiful charcoal ash marks acquired during the firing process. Comes with a signed tomobako.
Bizen ware pottery is made of the reddish brown clay with high iron content that is found in the area around the village of Imbe in what was Bizen province (now Okayama prefecture). This Contempoary Art is similar in style to Peter Voulkas, the Master Amercan ceramices.
