Description

Antique Chinese pair of stone temple door supports with carvings of fu dogs, seated on tanggu (ceremonial drums) on large pedestals. Intricately carved detail with emblems of dragons and auspicious characters on the front of each pedestal. The smaller female fu dog on the left is carved with her mouth closed, while the larger male on the right has an open mouth. This is a typical depiction to represent the sacred mantra “om”. Extremely heavy, solid stone.
