Antique Japanese Monkeys and Persimmons Parasol Handle. Well carved in the form of two monkeys in a persimmon tree. The large monkey helps the little one up into the branches which are covered with ripe fruit. Carved of bone with expressive details and warm patina. With custom metal stand.

Provenance : Michael Thaler, President of the Oregon netsuke society.

Mike has produced over 200 published books for children and is known as “America’s Riddle King.” He has also been called “The Court Jester of Children’s Literature.”

Elementary teachers read about Mrs. Green from “The Teacher from the Black Lagoon,” and the rest of the Lagoon faculty along with the creative talents of Jared Lee’s humorous illustrating. There are over 55 books in the Black Lagoon series published by Scholastic.
