Description

An antique Japanese Tansu chest called Funa Dansu (captain’s chest) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Kiri (Paulownia) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware including the Kakute interior handles and Warabite carrying handle. Made to be sturdy and heavy to withstand the rigors of the sea. Used as a ship safe where valuables and important documents were stored.
