Jun-ichirô Sekino traveled widely, not just throughout Japan but also in America, Mexico, Africa and Europe. He started making woodblock prints early in his middle school days and was prolific until his death in 1988 at age 74. He drew inspiration for his landscapes and portraits from many places and cultures around the globe. The Imperial Household Agency of Japan purchased many of his prints to give as gifts to foreign dignitaries and awarded him two Medals of Honor.
