A wonderful pair of Korean black lacquer book chests (Mungap), with highly elaborate inlaid scenes. The top and sides of each cabinet has scenic depictions of lakes, mountains, and small villages. Both cabinets have four sliding door panels, one with scenes of old turtles and one with cranes surrounded by flora. The turtle and crane is a popular motif to suggest longevity. The interior of each cabinet is lined with original blue paper and has four small upper drawers inlaid with flowers, leaves, and open with metal bat pulls. Immaculate, original condition. Original working key included.
