This naturally formed viewing stone is best classified as a Gobi Desert Lingbi-type stone (Gobi Ying Stone). While traditional Lingbi stones originate from Anhui province, Gobi examples are prized for their wind-carved silhouettes, subtle striations, mineral veining, and sculptural presence. This example displays dramatic desert erosion patterns, soft undulating contours, and pale gray tonality with natural white mineral veins running through the body—hallmarks of Gobi sedimentary stone shaped by centuries of sand abrasion.
The composition evokes a mountain peak or reclining landscape form, making it ideal for scholar’s table display, Zen-inspired interiors, or collectors of Chinese literati objects. The custom carved hardwood stand complements the organic lines and provides stability for presentation.
