A finely formed Chinese rock crystal snuff bottle of classic flattened form, retaining its stopper and spoon.
The bottle is carved from clear rock crystal (natural quartz), exhibiting excellent transparency with subtle internal inclusions characteristic of the material. The body is gently compressed with softly rounded shoulders and a neatly finished oval foot rim. The clean, undecorated surface allows the purity of the crystal to speak for itself. Well hallowed out in the interior.
Rock crystal was highly prized in China for its clarity and symbolic associations with purity, refinement, and spiritual clarity. Unlike molded glass examples, this bottle has been carved and hollowed from a single piece of crystal, then carefully polished to achieve its smooth, luminous finish. The walls show delicate wheel marks consistent with traditional hollowing techniques.
