Description

Chinese porcelain figure of Lan Caihe, one of the Eight Immortals in Chinese culture or Taoism. Lan is usually depicted carrying a bamboo flower basket as seen here. Lan’s gender is always shown in an androgynous manner. The figure’s earholes, nostrils, and mouth are pierced through. The bright enamel robes are accented in gilt pigment. Hand carved Hardwood stand fitted to porcelain statue. Republic Period (circa 1930’s)
