Description

Beautiful Chinese short silk robe for a lady, made of iridescent blue and purple silk woven with design of auspicious objects and swirling clouds. Applied edging of extremely intricate embroidered scenes noble men and ladies in a garden pavilion setting engaged in leisurely outdoor pursuits like fishing and flower gazing. This silk edging is ornately cut and edged with black silk piping and tiny rows of forbidden stitch. Four metal buttons and decorative silk ribbon work. The interior is lined with green silk. Late 19th century.
