Chinese blanc de chine porcelain statue of Quan Yin, the Buddhist bodhisattva associated with compassion. Her name is short for Guanshiyin, meaning “Observing the Cries of the World.” She stands upon strong, rolling winds and holds a lotus flower in her left hand. The statue is hollow and is pierced through her ears, eyes, and nostrils.
