Exceptional Meiji Era (circa 1880–1900) Japanese Kimono Tansu, crafted in three stackable sections and finished in rich deep red urushi lacquer with contrasting black framing. Constructed from fine Tochinoki (Japanese Horse Chestnut) and Cryptomeria (Japanese Cedar) woods, this chest showcases dramatic grain patterns and refined craftsmanship.

The façade features hand-forged iron warabite handles, traditional iron corner brackets, and large circular escutcheons, all consistent with late 19th century Japanese metalwork. The upper section includes sliding doors above multiple small drawers, while the lower sections provide expansive kimono storage drawers with beautifully aged iron hardware.

Designed for both functionality and portability, this three-section form allowed for ease of transport and reflects authentic Meiji period construction techniques. The lacquer surface displays a deep, warm patina consistent with age.

A superb example of authentic antique Japanese furniture, ideal for collectors, interior designers, and lovers of wabi-sabi aesthetics.
