A handsome and unusually narrow two-section Japanese Mizuya Tansu. Crafted from a combination of beautifully grained Hinoki (Japanese Cypress) and Keyaki (Japanese Elm), this exceptional cabinet displays the refined proportions and highly functional design characteristic of traditional wealthy Japanese family household furniture.
The upper section is richly arranged with multiple drawers and compartments, accented by distinctive hand-forged iron ring pulls and decorative hardware. The lower section features a pair of traditional sliding doors, providing both privacy and visual interest, with additional drawers below. The exposed wood has developed a warm, honey-gold patina that beautifully reveals the natural grain of the Hinoki and Keyaki.
The cabinet’s slender vertical form makes it particularly versatile for sophisticated interiors where both storage and architectural presence are desired.
