Constructed in the classic two-section (Kasane) form for ease of transport, the chest features four full-width drawers above a lower section with a large drawer and two graduated accessory drawers, providing versatile storage while maintaining elegant proportions. The warm natural grain of the aged kiri wood is beautifully complemented by its original hand-forged iron hardware, including substantial warabite-style drawer pulls, corner reinforcements, carrying handles, and distinctive circular lock plates with decorative chrysanthemum-form escutcheons. Traditional Japanese joinery throughout reflects the remarkable craftsmanship of the Meiji era.
