Description
An elegant antique Japanese two-section Kasane Tansu crafted specifically for the storage of kimono and textiles. The drawer fronts are made entirely of lightweight, fine-grained Kiri (paulownia) wood, prized in Japan for its ability to protect textiles from moisture and insects, while the body is constructed of Cryptomeria (Sugi).
The chest features beautifully aged hand-forged iron hardware, substantial corner fittings, and traditional Warabite-style handles. Four deep drawers provide generous kimono storage, while the beautifully grained Kiri fronts and restrained iron fittings exemplify the elegant, utilitarian character of traditional Japanese tansu.
