A very rare fully iron strapped Funa Tansu from Sado Island. Made of quarter sawn burl Keyaki wood and hand-forged iron. Iron straps on all sides including the back. Bottom is reinforced as well. The Keyaki sides retain their gorgeous original translucent lacquer finish. The top drawer is organized into compartments not often seen with Funa Tansu. The two lower drawers have hinged burl wood doors. Behind the doors are removable panels. On the right side behind the panel reveals a removable kiri safe box. On the left side there is a sliding panel with another removable solid Keyaki wood safe box behind it. This tansu is a top example of a Funa tansu. The bottom is signed by the shop owner Sawaya Rokuzo. The shop was located in the port of Sako Kodai Minato.
