Description
Antique Chinese scroll painting of a monkey climbing on a persimmon branch, with calligraphy poem and red chop. The image paired with the poem is a charming rebus, as the word “hou” means both “monkey” and “a high ranking official” or a Duke. Dated 1915, attributed to Gao Qifeng (1889-1933).
Provenance: From a private estate in Berkeley, CA.
Size: (entire scroll) 67″ H x 33″ W (painting only) 42″ H x 25″ W
