Description

Antique Korean square wrapping cloth called bojagi. Used to wrap various items from precious Buddhist ritual objects to wedding gifts, common household items like dining trays and even food. This type of bojagi, made of a patchwork of different fine silk fragments is called chogak bo (or jogakbo). Women sew together the patchwork wrappings in beautiful designs while thinking good wishes for the recipient. Connecting the small scraps of cloth together is symbolic of a long life. This fine chogak bo is made of pieces of white, purple, blue, pink, red and orange silk. Chogak bo have recently become especially appreciated and collected for their abstract patterns.
